Four warehouses, eight-in-ten same-day: how the DC routing works

Pittsburgh, Columbus, Charlotte, and Hartford. Our routing engine picks the DC by distance, stock, and route density. Here's why the same SKU ships from different docks on different days.

Eight orders out of ten ship within 24 hours of PO approval — but the dock varies. Our DC routing engine balances three inputs: distance to the buyer's ZIP (table-stakes), real-time stock (we don't split-ship from multiple DCs unless flagged), and route density (UPS surface zones).

The reason the same SKU ships from Pittsburgh on Monday and Columbus on Tuesday: we replenish at the dock level twice a week, and the routing engine reads inventory as of pick-time. So a sudden buy from a fab shop in Cleveland may drain Pittsburgh's stock of Class-3 cut gloves; the next order from the same buyer routes from Columbus instead. Net effect to you: faster arrival, same price.

If you need split-shipment (different lines from different DCs to arrive same day), flag it on the PO and we'll route accordingly. There's no upcharge.
